Alpacas with bushfire behind
Bushfires?...What Bushfires??

Welcome to Buckland Valley Alpacas nestled at the base of Mount Buffalo in the mountains of North East Victoria Australia.

Most of the year our herd of 50 alpacas wanders contentedly amongst the chestnut trees. But in the winter months mothers with huddled cria spend their mornings coated in a solid crust of ice waiting till 11.00 or so to get their first drink when the water buckets have finally thawed. In summer they spend the middle of the day huddled under the trees to escape the 40-degree heat while watching the smoke of the approaching bushfires. Always uncomplaining, they simply chew the time away until the conditions allow them out for a rambling graze. Tough animals!

Specialising in white and light fawn but also including browns and roans, we have used excellent genetics exclusively from day one and have progeny from the Jolimont sires Stefano and Patché and the legendary Accoyo males Rasputin and El Prado. More recently we have discovered Peruvian import Shanbrooke Haynacho whose show success via his progeny has been nothing short of astonishing.

We now have our own pure Accoyo male – Shanbrooke Accoyo Intrigue – the son of El Prado whose first progeny are now on the ground and realizing our high expectations. Intrigue is also available for on farm or outside matings.

We have selected females for sale all with a fertility guarantee (or live cria guarantee if sold pregnant) and offer delivery and continuous backup and advice for all our clients.

We offer farm tours and talks and have a very large range of fine alpaca garments in our shop and Café – Alpaca Passion. The success and popularity of the shop has now led to the opening of a second Alpaca Passion in Centrepoint Albury.
